Digi or Dizzy??? [Blog #1]

Everyone knows everything goes to digital nowadays. Movies, music, signals and so on. Some industries benefit from this improvement but some of other are still struggling to make this changes work. Back to last class, we were discussing the digital music. So, I am going to discuss it more on this blog.

During the class, some classmates gave out some really good points about the issues for music industry nowadays. Digital music should work as good as before, even better because its flexibility and convenience. People can just pay and download them in seconds. They could also have some trials before decide to purchase the music. Everything looks great on the “theory”. In reality, consumer doesn’t really buy it.

From the class discuss, all students brought some really interesting points. For examples, we, as consumer don’t really think the music don’t have same level of quality anymore. It is more like the music industry just try to make anything to gain some money first. From my point of view, I really agree to this points. Back to couple years ago, once I purchased a album, I could listen that album for more than one year. For now, it would be nice album if it can survive three months.

Digital music’s strongest advantages is their conveniences. It is also its biggest threat. Because it is so convenient, there are just too much black market sell those music with lowest money we can image. And the music industry didn’t make any profit from it. That is the most important and worst problem. Universal To Set Its Music Free Here is the link from Forbes website about the huge music manufacture decide to sell their music for free. However, it is still gonna be testing. I think the decision is great. The point is to let consumer to get used to download authorize music from authorize website. Once the consumer get used to this method to enjoy the music. They might want to pay for further services.

The other problem would be the culture. In North America, people tend to respect the copyright more than some culture in Asia. Even if the music manufacture had good promotion and services on their website. People don’t respect the copyright still want to enjoy the music when it is “free”. Here is a link to introduce this factor more. China’s Digital Music Market.

Although digital music industry is not doing really good right now, on the other hand, it also means there a lot more space to improve. Even thought the statistic shows the Canadian consumer are not likely to purchase music online anymore. The amount of consumer are dropping. These information are based on Can stats. Electronic commerce households shopping on the Internet…

I still believe if the music production and company willing to give consumer what they deserve, the digital music industry will still survive.
